Moroccan citizen Rachid Harchaoui and his German wife were found in good health this Monday after being trapped by heavy snow in a rugged mountain area between Tinghir and Azilal provinces.
The couple had been missing since Friday evening while exploring the mountainous region between Amsfrane and Zaouiat Ahansal. Their disappearance prompted swift action by Moroccan authorities and search teams, with assistance from their friends.
Local sources confirmed that the couple was rescued by a Royal Gendarmerie helicopter and transported to Azilal for medical care. Heavy snowfall had hindered their journey, leaving them stranded in an area known for its challenging terrain.
Upon receiving the disappearance report, local authorities and the Royal Gendarmerie launched extensive search efforts, overcoming harsh weather conditions. Provincial leaders closely monitored the situation, deploying significant resources to locate the missing couple.
This incident underscores the importance of caution and preparation when embarking on exploratory trips in mountainous regions, especially during adverse weather conditions.
