Open Day at the Regional Agricultural Research Center in Tangier

The Regional Agricultural Research Center in Tangier hosted an open day on Thursday under the theme “Sustainable and Innovative Agricultural Practices”. The event gathered experts, researchers, and stakeholders from the agricultural sector to discuss advancements and share expertise.

The initiative aimed to inform the partners of the National Institute of Agronomic Research (INRA), professionals, and key players in agricultural development about the institute’s research programs. Practical outcomes were shared to benefit farmers and enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability.

INRA Director Fawzi Bekkaoui emphasized the importance of these open days to showcase the institute’s innovations, particularly within the “Green Generation 2020-2030” strategy. Highlights included advancements in digital agriculture, sustainable soil management, and techniques like direct seeding.

Aziz Al Balouti, the regional director of agriculture for Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, stressed the crucial role of agricultural research in ensuring food security, especially in light of challenges posed by climate change and water scarcity.

Participants toured thematic stands showcasing livestock production, red fruits, tree farming, and innovative techniques like direct seeding. Technological advances, including nuclear applications in agriculture, were also presented.
