A police inspector from the anti-gang unit in Meknès was forced, in the early hours of Friday, November 22, to use his service weapon preventively to apprehend a repeat offender caught in the act of robbery using a knife and accompanied by a dangerous dog.
Initial investigation reports indicate that a police patrol intervened in the old city of Meknès to stop the suspect, who was threatening a victim with a knife and inciting an aggressive dog to escalate the intimidation. The suspect resisted violently, prompting the officer to fire a warning shot.
This necessary use of the service weapon successfully neutralized the suspect’s threat, leading to the seizure of the knife he wielded.
The suspect has been placed in custody for further judicial investigation by the judicial police in Meknès under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor.
