Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, held discussions today, Friday, in Rabat with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk.
During the meeting, the two officials addressed several topics of common interest, particularly those related to the promotion and protection of human rights.
Volker Türk is also participating in the Human Rights Council retreat, held on November 21 and 22, organized under the Moroccan presidency of the Council.
The retreat aims to serve as a platform for reflection and dialogue on the current state and future of the Council. Discussions focus on the major challenges facing the international community in the areas of human rights promotion and protection, as well as exploring ways to reform this key UN body.
The event brings together ambassadors and permanent representatives of the Council’s member states, coordinators of regional and political groups, and representatives of NGOs engaged in the Council’s work.
