Today, Tuesday, in Rabat, the members of the jury for the 22nd National Press Grand Prize were inaugurated for the year 2024 during a meeting chaired by the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid.
The jury, led by Aziz Bousta, includes Abdelkrim Akarkab, Hassan Lakoutali, Lahbib El Asri, Manal El Akhdari, Abdellah Tettarbi, Abelhafid Lamnounar, Hajiba Ma El Ainin, Farhana Ayach, Abderrahim El Asri, and Mokhtar El Ghazoui.
In his speech, Mr. Bensaid emphasized the importance of this year’s edition, which saw amendments to the decree governing the award. These changes included adjustments to its categories and an increase in the financial rewards for winners.
He highlighted that these efforts aim to bolster the role of journalism in addressing public affairs, strengthen the presence of professional journalism, and encourage professionals in the sector to innovate.
Aziz Bousta, the jury president, revealed that this year’s edition received 134 submissions across various written and audiovisual journalistic genres. He stated that the jury would strive to select the winners, who will be announced during the ceremony scheduled for December 13.
The National Press Grand Prize, held annually on National Media Day, aims to encourage and honor Moroccan journalistic talents in various categories, including television, radio, written and digital press, as well as specialized journalism like Amazigh and Hassani reporting, caricature, and photography. It also features honorary awards for journalists who have significantly contributed to the development of the national media landscape.
