National police and customs authorities at Tanger Med port foiled an international drug trafficking operation on Wednesday morning, confiscating a total of 19,050 drug pills hidden inside an international transport truck arriving from a European country.
According to security sources, the border checks and inspections uncovered the pills concealed in specially prepared cavities within the truck’s cabin. The truck’s driver, a 36-year-old Moroccan citizen, was arrested.
The suspect is now in custody under judicial supervision as investigations, led by the competent public prosecutor, aim to uncover all parties involved and trace potential national and international links to this criminal activity.
This operation is part of the ongoing intensive efforts by the General Directorate of National Security to combat international drug and psychotropic trafficking.
