Sentencing in the Case of a Student’s Murder in Tangier

The Criminal Chamber of the First Instance Court of Appeal in Tangier sentenced the teenage girl accused of murdering student Anouar to 15 years in prison early this Wednesday morning, following an extended hearing.

Additionally, the uncle of the main suspect was sentenced to 10 years in prison for concealing evidence of the crime.

The 17-year-old suspect was charged with premeditated murder and theft. She has been placed in the juvenile ward of Tangier’s local prison. Her uncle, accused of hiding evidence, is also held in preventive detention in the same facility.

The arrest of the minor, carried out on Monday, November 7, 2022, was made possible through coordination between the judicial police in Tangier and Tétouan, based on precise intelligence provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance. She is suspected of fatally stabbing a 20-year-old student with a bladed weapon.

According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), investigators discovered the victim’s body on Saturday, November 5, 2022, in a residence where he lived alone in Tangier. The body bore multiple injuries suspected to have been caused by a sharp object.

The thorough investigations led to the arrest of the main suspect and a family member accused of destroying evidence and criminal proceeds.
