The President of the Union of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani, commended King Mohammed VI’s visionary leadership, which has elevated Morocco’s standing as a key African power.
Speaking at the opening of the 16th edition of the international MEDays Forum, held under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, the Comorian leader highlighted Morocco’s effective bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, emphasizing the King’s efforts in fostering sovereignty and stability in Africa.
President Assoumani stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty of nations, noting that the Comoros has consistently supported Morocco’s territorial integrity, including its sovereignty over the Sahara.
He also underscored the need for global solutions to current challenges, marked by increasing geopolitical tensions. Strengthening African countries’ resilience is essential, he stated, to address these issues while safeguarding their sovereignty, which often faces internal and external threats.
The President concluded by urging collective efforts to prevent crises through diplomacy and mediation. He asserted that the sovereignty and resilience of African nations depend on strong political will and regional cooperation.
This year’s MEDays Forum gathers over 250 high-profile speakers, including heads of state, decision-makers, Nobel laureates, and leaders of international corporations. Under the theme “Sovereignties and Resilience: Towards a New Global Balance,” the event aims to explore strategies for strengthening national and regional sovereignty in response to multifaceted global crises.
