Inauguration of the New Building for the French Consulate General in Tangier

This Thursday morning, the city of Tangier hosted the official inauguration of the new building of the French Consulate General. The ceremony was attended by Christophe Lecourtier, France’s Ambassador to Morocco, Philippe Trouillet, Consul General of France in Tangier, alongside several notable figures and local officials.

Distinguished guests included the Wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Younes Tazi, the governor of Fahs Anjra, Abdelkhalek El Marzouki, the president of the Regional Council, Omar Moro, as well as representatives of security authorities and the Spanish Consul General.

The event emphasized the strong ties between Morocco and France, highlighting the importance of this step to enhance consular services in the region.

The new building, strategically located near Tangier’s iconic Place de France, aims to centralize services between the consulate and the French Institute. It also seeks to meet the growing needs of the French community in northern Morocco, which has seen significant demographic growth in recent years.

During the inauguration, the importance of Moroccan-French cooperation in various fields, such as culture, education, and the arts, was reaffirmed.
