The appellate criminal chamber of the Fez Court of Appeals sentenced a man to life imprisonment on Monday for the murder of a high school student in Sefrou. The verdict increased the initial sentence, which had been set at 22 years in prison.

The court also imposed a financial penalty of 1 million Moroccan dirhams on the convicted individual.

This tragic case dates back to an incident in Sefrou, where a high school student at Sidi Lahcen Lyoussi High School fell victim to a brutal assault by an individual with a criminal record.

The attacker intercepted the victim in the « Bouderham » neighborhood with the intent to rob her but escalated the crime by stabbing her three times with a knife, leaving her to bleed out at the scene.

Despite being rushed to Hassan II Hospital in Fez in an attempt to save her, the young girl succumbed to her severe injuries, leaving the local community in shock and mourning.
