Renowned Moroccan artist Mustapha El Zaari passed away this Tuesday morning following health complications, despite recently overcoming cancer that had afflicted him in recent months.
His final television appearance was in the series « رحلة العمر » (The Journey of Life), directed by Lamis Khairat, marking his return after a long hiatus.
The actor Rachid El Choubi shared the sad news on Facebook, stating: « Allahu Akbar. May Allah grant mercy and forgiveness to artist Mustapha El Zaari. »
In April, El Zaari was admitted to the military hospital in Rabat to receive essential treatment for cancer. Since then, he had remained out of the public eye.
El Zaari had openly discussed his battle with cancer in various media appearances, calling on Moroccan audiences to keep him in their prayers. He also appealed to the Ministry of Culture for assistance in accessing specialized treatment.
As one of Morocco’s artistic icons, El Zaari contributed significantly to television, cinema, and theater with memorable performances.
Just months before announcing his illness, he had completed filming « رحلة العمر », which recently aired on Al Aoula channel. The show featured a stellar cast, including Fadila Benmoussa, Tarik Boukhari, and Rawya.
