The second edition of the International Conference on Green Hydrogen began this Wednesday in Rabat, bringing together key players and experts in renewable energy. The event highlights green hydrogen as a pivotal driver of Morocco’s sustainable development strategy.
Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the conference is co-organized by the International University of Rabat and Mohammed V University. Running until December 6, the event is themed « Towards a Green Hydrogen Ecosystem », aiming to explore optimal ways to harness and utilize this clean energy source.
Prominent figures, exhibitors, and experts are participating in discussions about critical topics like solid hydrogen storage, green ammonia production, and integrating green hydrogen across sectors at national and international levels.
During the opening session, Mohamed Bali, a researcher from the International University of Rabat, announced the launch of this award to honor influential individuals in the green hydrogen sector. This initiative reflects Morocco’s commitment to renewable energy and recognizes African youth leadership in combating climate change.
Samir Rachidi, Director-General of the Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energies, emphasized the importance of developing human capital and enhancing scientific research. He highlighted institutions like Mohammed VI Polytechnic University and OCP Group as key players in advancing green hydrogen projects.
Mohamed Rkikri, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at Mohammed V University, stressed the importance of research and innovation in supporting Morocco’s energy transition. This academic partnership strengthens the country’s energy strategy.
