Drug Trafficking Foiled at Tanger Med Port

Security operations carried out on Thursday, December 5, by national police and customs officers at Tanger Med Port successfully thwarted several international drug trafficking attempts. Authorities seized a total of 435.4 kilograms of cannabis resin (chira) hidden inside international transport trucks.

During border inspections of three trucks loaded with various goods, preparing to leave for European ports, 424 kilograms of cannabis resin were found in the first truck, while an additional 11.4 kilograms were discovered in the structures and compartments of the remaining two vehicles.

The operation also resulted in the arrest of the truck drivers, Moroccan citizens aged between 34 and 43. The suspects have been placed in custody under judicial investigation overseen by the competent public prosecutor’s office. The inquiry aims to uncover all criminal activities involved and trace potential connections to this illegal operation.
