Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch held discussions this Thursday in Rabat with Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in the presence of Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance.
The talks provided an opportunity to highlight Morocco’s major development projects, led under the guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The meeting also commended Morocco’s selection as the host of the 5th edition of the Africa Investment Forum, taking place under the Royal Patronage from December 4 to 6 in Rabat. The event brings together key stakeholders to facilitate financing and implementation of development projects across the African continent.
Prime Minister Akhannouch praised the EBRD’s active role in supporting infrastructure projects and accelerating energy transition in Morocco, aligning with His Majesty’s forward-thinking vision. He emphasized the importance of establishing a new Morocco-EBRD strategy for 2024-2029, aiming to support green economy projects, enhance private sector competitiveness, strengthen social cohesion, and reduce regional disparities.
Ms. Renaud-Basso noted that the EBRD invested over €400 million in Morocco this year, focusing on energy transition, carbon neutrality, women’s inclusion, and economic digitalization. She highlighted that the bank’s priorities align with Morocco’s development goals.
Since becoming an EBRD operational country in 2012, Morocco has benefited from investments worth €4.74 billion, 77% of which have been directed toward the private sector.
