French Prime Minister Michel Barnier officially submitted his resignation today, Thursday, to President Emmanuel Macron during a meeting at the Élysée Palace.
This resignation follows the National Assembly’s vote of no confidence against the government, a move unprecedented since 1962.
Later today, President Macron is expected to meet with the Speaker of the National Assembly and the President of the Senate before addressing the French nation at 8:00 PM local time. During his speech, he is anticipated to outline a roadmap for resolving the ongoing political crisis.
