FIFPRO Announces 2024 World’s Best XI
The International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPRO) has revealed the World’s Best XI for 2024 through the “X” platform. This prestigious team was selected based on votes from over 21,000 professional players across 70 countries.
For the first time in nearly 20 years, Argentina’s Lionel Messi is absent from the lineup. The squad features six players from Champions League winners Real Madrid and four from Manchester City.
This marks the first time since 2006 that Messi is excluded from the FIFPRO XI. The forward line consists of Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé, and Vinícius Júnior, replacing Messi, who holds the record for the most appearances in this selection with 17.
Jude Bellingham, the Real Madrid and England star, received the most votes with 11,176. Meanwhile, Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk disrupted the dominance of Real Madrid and Manchester City players in this year’s team.
