Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared in court on Tuesday to testify in three separate criminal cases, the most prominent of which involves corruption charges.
According to the Tel Aviv Central Court, the hearings began today and will be held three times a week, totaling 15 sessions. Netanyahu faces allegations of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust.
Israeli media have described this trial as « an inglorious event in Israel’s history. » Netanyahu is the first sitting Prime Minister to take the witness stand in criminal proceedings. His predecessor, Ehud Olmert, faced similar charges but had resigned before his trial commenced.
