Cultural Heritage Celebration at Tangier’s « Villa Harris » Museum
On Thursday evening, the « Villa Harris » Museum in Tangier hosted a cultural event titled « Cultural Heritage: From Tangier to the World, » bringing together artists and cultural figures from Morocco and Spain.
This event, organized by the Moroccan association « Art and Culture Without Borders » and the Spanish foundation ACWB, with support from the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, celebrates the deep historical and cultural ties between Morocco and Spain.
In her opening speech, Soumaya Akbib, president of the association, emphasized that this is the first event of its kind organized by the association in Morocco. The aim is to use art and culture as a bridge for connecting people. She highlighted the choice of the 19th-century « Villa Harris » Museum, a blend of historical architecture and modern art, as a symbol of harmony between the past and present.
Tangier was chosen for its strategic geographical location, symbolizing dialogue and interaction between civilizations. This makes it the ideal setting to celebrate intercultural and intergenerational connections.
Francisco de Bourbon, Duke of Seville and Vice President of the ACWB Foundation, praised the impressive transformation of Tangier in recent years. He affirmed that the city is an ideal venue for this cultural event, part of the Foundation’s efforts to enhance relations between Spain and the Arab world through culture.
