A 4.9-magnitude earthquake shook Chlef Province, west of the Algerian capital, early Monday morning, according to the Algerian Research Center for Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Geophysics.
The center reported that the quake occurred at 1:09 a.m. local time (12:09 a.m. GMT), with its epicenter located 3 kilometers north of Zeboudja in Chlef Province, along the Mediterranean coast.
The Algerian Civil Defense Authority stated that no immediate reports of casualties or material damage had been received from the affected municipalities.
