“LabiZana”: An Innovative Initiative to Support Farmers in Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima
The Regional Directorate of the National Office for Agricultural Advisory Services (ONCA) in Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima recently launched an innovative initiative in Ouazzane called “LabiZana”. This program aims to bring advisory services closer to farmers and share a fresh vision for agricultural development with all stakeholders.
The initiative focuses on three main pillars:
- Strengthening agricultural expertise: Providing farmers with support through modern technologies and equipping them with entrepreneurial and administrative skills to engage in innovative and profitable agricultural projects.
- Improved access to financing: Educating farmers about new financing mechanisms and guiding them toward support institutions like the Agricultural Development Fund and the “Takamul” program.
- Environmental and agricultural sustainability: Raising awareness among farmers about water scarcity and promoting sustainable practices such as smart irrigation, soil conservation, and optimized crop management.
The initiative includes workshops conducted by the International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA), mobile units for on-site visits, and the implementation of direct seeding techniques. This effort aligns with the national “Green Generation” strategy, enhancing the role of agricultural advisory services as a key driver for sustainable and inclusive farming.
