Moroccan Government Strengthens the Foundations of the Social State
On Monday, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch announced to the House of Representatives that the government is implementing an integrated social policy aligned with the Royal Vision, acting as a safeguard against future challenges.
Infrastructure and Healthcare
During the session on essential infrastructure, Mr. Akhannouch highlighted key achievements:
- Hospitals increased from 112 in 1999 to 177 in 2024 (+58%).
- 1,400 health centers under renovation, with over 60% progress.
- Construction and modernization of regional hospitals and the Agadir University Hospital.
The healthcare budget has grown from 18 billion dirhams in 2020 to over 33 billion by 2025.
Education and Training
In education, the government prioritized creating modern schools and enhancing learning conditions:
- Sector budget: From 62 billion in 2022 to over 85 billion by 2025.
- Educational institutions: +4,678 new schools, 62% of which are in rural areas.
- Development of « Cities of Trades and Skills » to meet regional skill needs.
Housing
The « Cities Without Slums » program improved living conditions for 347,277 families, with 61 cities declared slum-free.
