A young man in his thirties tragically lost his life today in Jerada following the collapse of a traditional coal mining pit in the « B12 » area.
The victim, a resident of the Laouinat commune, was recovered thanks to the combined efforts of civil protection services and local « sandriate » workers. Authorities have launched an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Despite the regulation of « sandriate » activities under licensed cooperatives since the 2018 Jerada protests, which called for economic alternatives, fatal accidents continue to occur.
