Family Code Revision: Working Session Chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI
His Majesty King Mohammed VI presided over a working session this Monday at the Royal Palace in Casablanca, dedicated to revising the Family Code. This meeting follows the submission of a report by the commission responsible for the review, which includes over 100 proposed amendments.
During the session, the Minister of Justice, Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi, presented an overview of the methods and approaches adopted by the commission. The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Toufiq, outlined the religious opinions provided by the Higher Council of Ulemas. His Majesty emphasized the need to continue constructive religious interpretation to address the evolving needs of Moroccan families.
The King also instructed the government to communicate the key updates of this reform to the public and to draft legislative initiatives in line with constitutional provisions. The aim is to ensure the legal, social, and economic rights of Moroccan families while avoiding legal ambiguities.
