Increase in Coastal and Artisanal Fishing Products at Boujdour Port

The volumes of coastal and artisanal fishing products landed at Boujdour port recorded a 5% increase by the end of November, according to data from the National Fisheries Office.

During this period, the landings reached 69,434 tons, generating a financial value of 589.06 million dirhams, marking a 17% increase compared to the same period in 2023 (504.90 million dirhams).

For pelagic fish, the landed volumes remained stable by the end of November, but their financial value rose by 23%, reaching 215.42 million dirhams compared to 175.33 million dirhams for 58,540 tons in 2023.

White fish saw a significant growth of 44%, with 7,139 tons landed, generating a value of 134.82 million dirhams, compared to 104.31 million dirhams and 4,968 tons in 2023.

Mollusks also experienced a 29% increase, with 3,799 tons landed and a financial value of 238.38 million dirhams, reflecting a 6% rise from the previous year.

On a national scale, the marketed landings of coastal and artisanal fishing products totaled 1,233,568 tons by the end of November 2024, marking a 1% increase compared to the same period in 2023. These products generated a value of 10 billion dirhams, representing a 6% rise from the previous year.
