Oukaïmeden Shines Again with the First Snowfall
With the first snowfall of the winter season, Oukaïmeden ski resort, perched at 2600 meters in the High Atlas Mountains, has regained its charm, delighting visitors, winter sports enthusiasts, locals, and tourism stakeholders.
Located just 75 kilometers from Marrakech, this resort, one of the highest in Africa, offers a range of sports, leisure, and exploration activities, making it a must-visit destination for both locals and international tourists.
Beyond skiing, the main attraction for both beginners and professionals, visitors can enjoy hiking, explore ancient rock carvings, and discover local products.
Following the recent snowfall, the resort saw a large influx of visitors eager to enjoy the snow-covered landscape and the warm hospitality of the local population.
Hassan, a visitor from Tiznit, expressed his happiness with the enhanced services and road conditions despite the modest start to the snow season.
Hanane and Ahmed, visiting with their family, highlighted the friendly atmosphere and the diverse opportunities for fun at the resort. They also noted the positive impact of the snow on the local water table and tourism sector.
Mohamed, who rents out skiing equipment, reported a surge in demand, while Ali Aït El Haj, a ski instructor with 30 years of experience, praised the renewed energy brought by the snowfall.
With an investment of 148.34 million dirhams for infrastructure upgrades and 230 million dirhams for the development of new activities, Oukaïmeden is gearing up for a bright future.
