Ghana Suspends Diplomatic Relations with the So-Called « Republic »
The Republic of Ghana has decided to suspend its diplomatic relations with the so-called « republic, » as announced in an official document from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana.
The statement, addressed to Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, highlights that this decision will be immediately communicated to the Government of Morocco, the African Union, and the United Nations through diplomatic channels.
Ghana also expressed its support for Morocco’s sincere efforts to reach a mutually acceptable solution to the conflict.
It is worth noting that Ghana had recognized this fictitious entity back in 1979. However, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, 46 countries, including 13 African nations, have suspended or severed their relations with this entity since 2000, strengthening Morocco’s stance on the Sahara issue.
