On the night of Monday to Tuesday, the border area between Mali and Mauritania witnessed a serious incident involving dozens of Moroccan cargo trucks. These vehicles were targeted by armed separatist groups in the border town of « Nioro du Sahel. »

According to local sources, around 30 Moroccan trucks faced a harrowing night in Mali as they attempted to cross into Mauritania. The violence erupted amid clashes between opposition armed groups and the Malian army in the Nioro du Sahel area. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported among the drivers.

The attackers fired on the trucks lined up along the border road, causing material damage. The Moroccan drivers fled to nearby areas but returned once the Malian army regained control of the region.

In a statement, the Malian General Staff announced that its units successfully countered the terrorist attack. The attackers, infiltrating in large numbers, had targeted several key locations in the town. However, the situation is now under control.

The army recovered heavy weaponry, rocket launchers, and a significant cache of ammunition from the assailants. Security operations continue in the region to ensure such incidents do not recur.
