CAF Increases CHAN 2024 Prize Money
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has significantly increased the prize money for the winner of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), to be held in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The winning team will receive $3.5 million, representing a 75% increase compared to previous editions. Additionally, the total prize pool for the tournament has been raised by 32%, reaching $10.4 million.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe stated on the organization’s official website: “We are very excited about the 2024 CHAN, set to take place in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. We have significantly increased the prize for the winner to $3.5 million, while the total prize money for CHAN 2024 now stands at $10.4 million.”
Motsepe emphasized the importance of the tournament in developing local talent in Africa. He added, “CHAN is a key part of our strategy to invest in African football, attracting fans, viewers, sponsors, and partners across Africa and around the globe.”
Seventeen teams have already secured their places: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Morocco, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Niger, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, the Central African Republic, DR Congo, Congo, Sudan, Zambia, Angola, and Madagascar. Two additional teams will qualify after the remaining matches, with the draw set for January 15 in Kenya.
