Parliamentarian Moulay El Mahdi El Fatimi has raised significant concerns regarding the alarming spread of measles, commonly known as « Bouhmaroun, » in several regions across the Kingdom. He submitted a written inquiry to the Minister of Health and Social Protection, urging the ministry to disclose its plans to address this escalating situation.

The member of the Socialist Group of Federal Opposition in the House of Representatives noted a recent surge in measles cases over the past weeks, which has sparked growing fear among citizens, particularly in remote areas with inadequate healthcare services.

El Fatimi emphasized that measles is a serious infectious disease, highly contagious, especially among children. It can lead to severe complications or even death if not promptly and effectively treated.

In this context, the parliamentarian questioned the ministry’s preparedness to contain the disease, stressing the urgency of implementing immediate measures to ensure the vaccination of children in affected areas and strengthening the epidemiological surveillance system for early detection of cases.

He also called on the ministry to provide precise data on the number of recorded cases, the patients requiring hospitalization, and those suffering from severe complications.
