The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration announced that, as of this Wednesday, a total of 41 measles cases have been recorded in various penitentiary institutions.

According to the statement, these cases are distributed as follows: 23 cases in Tanger 2 Local Prison (including two staff members), 7 cases in Mohammedia Local Prison, 5 cases in Ain Borja Local Prison, 2 cases each in Kenitra Central Prison and Bourkaiz Local Prison in Fez, and one case each in Tetouan Local Prison and Kalaa Sraghna Local Prison.

The delegation urged families of inmates authorized for visits to exercise caution and adhere to preventive measures to avoid spreading the disease to prisoners. Visitors displaying symptoms are advised to refrain from visiting.

In alignment with the national measles monitoring plan, the delegation has implemented preventive and therapeutic measures outlined in the health protocol developed by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection. This includes isolating suspected cases for necessary tests and treatment, and offering optional vaccination to inmates and staff.

To enhance alertness, a circular was issued on January 3, 2025, to all prisons, urging quick action and coordination with health authorities in case of potential cases.
