Mehdi Benatia Appointed as Sporting Director of Olympique de Marseille

French club Olympique de Marseille announced on Wednesday the appointment of former Moroccan international Mehdi Benatia as the team’s Sporting Director.

According to a statement released by Marseille, Benatia takes on this role after serving as a sports advisor since 2023.

“Olympique de Marseille is pleased to announce the appointment of Mehdi Benatia as Director of Football. With his full involvement alongside the president in launching the ambitious long-term sports project and during last summer’s transfer window, Benatia has been entrusted with this responsibility,” the statement read.

It is worth noting that Mehdi Benatia previously played for Olympique de Marseille between 2004 and 2008.
