Younes Sekkouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Businesses, Employment, and Skills, announced on Wednesday the government’s willingness to make substantial amendments to the draft law on the right to strike.

Speaking to the press after meetings with representatives of various labor unions and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), the minister stressed the importance of this « crucial » legislation to align with social and economic developments while ensuring the right to strike without infringing on the freedom to work. The government is working with social partners through the framework of social dialogue to deliver a refined version of the law that meets workers’ expectations.

The minister noted ongoing efforts to bridge differing viewpoints on key mechanisms related to exercising the right to strike. The draft, currently under review by the Council of Advisors, will undergo further significant amendments.
