On Sunday evening, Al Hoceima hosted a series of joyful and diverse celebrations marking the Amazigh New Year 2975. The event was part of the 9th edition of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Caravan, aimed at promoting Amazigh heritage as a fundamental component of Moroccan identity.

Organized by the International Academy of Intangible Cultural Heritage in partnership with local and national institutions, the celebration featured the opening of a fair showcasing traditional crafts and local products. Approximately 26 booths highlighted agricultural and artisanal Amazigh specialties, along with a tent offering tastings of regional dishes.

A highlight of the event was a traditional carnival featuring parades in Amazigh attire, complemented by folk dances and music, captivating both locals and visitors. The event also paid tribute to Amazigh women by introducing the symbolic figure “Masa Ntamazirt,” representing Mother Earth and symbolizing prosperity and harmony.

Festivities continue until January 13, with activities including children’s workshops, conferences, culinary tastings, and a closing evening with fireworks to celebrate “Asgas Amaïnu” (Happy Amazigh Year).
