Casablanca Incident: Police Officer Severely Injured While on Duty
The Director General of National Security, Abdellatif Hammouchi, has instructed the national police health services to closely monitor the condition of a senior police officer. The officer, who serves in the traffic division of the Hay Hassani district in Casablanca, was seriously injured in a deliberate traffic incident. The incident occurred after a driver refused to comply with a stop signal at a red light.
According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the Casablanca Police Prefecture and relevant central departments have been tasked with providing necessary support to the injured officer, including covering medical and treatment expenses.
The officer, performing his duties at a traffic intersection in the Hay Hassani neighborhood, sustained severe injuries, including a skull fracture and multiple fractures to his limbs and chest. He was immediately taken to the intensive care unit.
The DGSN stated that the driver responsible, a 34-year-old man, was apprehended by police after attempting to flee. He has been placed in custody under the orders of the competent public prosecutor’s office to complete the investigation and uncover all details surrounding the incident.
This incident occurs as the DGSN continues its efforts to strengthen protective measures and support for police officers, who face increasing risks while performing their daily duties.
