Conclusion of the 15th Edition of the « Moussalaha » Rehabilitation Program

Yesterday, Friday, marked the conclusion of the 15th edition of the « Moussalaha » rehabilitation program. Held at the local prison in Salé, this initiative benefited 21 inmates convicted of extremism and terrorism-related offenses.

Supervised by the « Moussalaha Center, » established under the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the program aims to promote the values of citizenship and tolerance, raise awareness about moderation, and support the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates into society.

Ahmed Abbadi, Secretary General of the Rabita Mohammadia of Ulama and President of the « Moussalaha Center, » told the press that the program offers comprehensive training covering key areas such as reconciliation with oneself, religious texts, and society, to prevent extremist or violent tendencies. He noted that the program provides participants with specialized skills through expert-led sessions.

Abdelouahed Jamali Idrissi, coordinator of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Prisoners, highlighted that this 15th edition focused on legal and religious dimensions, introducing methods for personal and social reconciliation and disengagement from violent narratives. He emphasized that the program equips participants with a sound approach to religious practices, easing their societal reintegration.

Hicham Mallati, Director of Criminal Affairs and Pardons at the Ministry of Justice, stated that 343 inmates have benefited from the program since its inception. This initiative is a cornerstone of the national penal policy and bolsters international counterterrorism strategies by emphasizing prevention and rehabilitation.

During the closing ceremony, the launch of the 16th edition was announced, with 20 new inmates set to participate. Since its inception in 2017, the « Moussalaha » program has achieved a participation rate of 63.63%.
