Florentino Pérez Re-elected as Real Madrid President Until 2029
Yesterday, Sunday, Florentino Pérez was re-elected as the president of Spanish football club Real Madrid for a new term, lasting until 2029. This re-election occurred without any competitors.
In a statement, the « royal club » announced: « Given the presence of a single candidate… (Pérez) is declared President of Real Madrid. »
The announcement came just hours after Real Madrid’s impressive 4-1 victory against Las Palmas in the 20th round of La Liga, which saw the club reclaim the top spot in the standings.
At 77 years old, Pérez has faced no opposition in four previous elections (2013, 2017, 2021, and 2025) since his return to the club in 2009 for a second term as president.
The Spanish businessman was first elected as Real Madrid president in 2000 and oversaw the « Galácticos » era at the club before stepping down in 2006.
Since his return in 2009, Pérez has led the capital club to win five La Liga titles, six Champions League trophies, and numerous other accolades.
