On Tuesday evening, the body of a newborn infant was found near a covered market in the city of Tâhla, located in the Taza province.

According to local sources, the body was wrapped in a piece of cloth and left in an open area used for garbage disposal, not far from the Royal Gendarmerie station. The sources noted that the condition of the body suggests it had not been there for long, hinting at a recent abandonment. It is suspected that the baby may have been born from an illicit relationship.

The infant’s body was transferred to the morgue at Ibn Baja Hospital in Taza for an autopsy. Meanwhile, the Royal Gendarmerie in Tâhla has launched an investigation to identify those responsible for this tragic act.
