Ibrahim Díaz: A Moroccan Star to Watch in AFCON 2025

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has recommended closely following Moroccan star Ibrahim Díaz during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to take place in Morocco from December 21 to January 18.

In a report published on CAF’s official website, five players were highlighted as potential standout performers in this edition of the tournament. Among them is Ibrahim Díaz, a Real Madrid player preparing for his debut in the African championship.

The report noted that Díaz, who chose to represent Morocco instead of Spain, excelled in the AFCON qualifiers, finishing as the top scorer with 7 goals in 6 matches. With the tournament being held on Moroccan soil, Díaz is expected to benefit from significant home support, potentially making him a key player in the « Atlas Lions’ » quest for their second African title since 1976.

Besides Díaz, CAF also recommended keeping an eye on other standout players, including Nigerian Ademola Lookman, Cameroonian Carlos Baleba, Ivorian Simon Adingra, and South African Ronwen Williams, all tipped to leave their mark on this tournament.
