Crackdown on Migrants in the United States

On Friday, the White House shared an image on its verified social media accounts showing deported migrants in chains, ready to be removed from the United States.

Commenting on the post, the White House stated: “Just as promised, President Trump is sending a strong message to the world: those who enter the United States illegally will face severe consequences.”

Later, the Trump administration announced on the « X » platform that 538 undocumented migrants were arrested on Thursday, describing the operation as the beginning of the largest deportation campaign in U.S. history. Among those arrested was Magdalino Zenin Hernández García, previously convicted of sexual assault on a child under 14 years old.

According to Fox News, between midnight on January 21 and 9 a.m. on January 22, a period of just 33 hours, enforcement and removal operations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) led to the arrest of over 460 undocumented migrants with criminal records.

The arrests included migrants from various countries such as Afghanistan, Angola, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Senegal, and Venezuela.

Operations took place across several U.S. states, including Illinois, Utah, California, Minnesota, New York, Florida, and Maryland. Simultaneously, more than 420 arrest warrants were issued. The charges included murder, sexual assault, kidnapping, battery, and burglary.
