British company Sound Energy has announced that liquefied natural gas (LNG) production from the « Tendrara » field will commence in the fourth quarter of this year.

In an interview with the « Asharq » platform, Graham Lyon, the company’s CEO, stated that Sound Energy is continuing its investments and plans to remain in Morocco for the long term. He added, « While Managem has expanded its share in the project, we have no intention of exiting. »

The CEO explained that gas production will start with a pilot phase by late summer and early autumn, followed by full-scale commercial production at the end of autumn.

According to Graham Lyon, the « Tendrara » facility will have a capacity of approximately 10 million cubic feet per day, mostly consisting of liquefied natural gas. This gas will primarily be sold to « Afriquia Gaz. »

The « Tendrara » field is described as Morocco’s largest onshore gas field, currently under development. Sound Energy, in partnership with the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM), holds the largest gas concession in the country.

The development of a pipeline connected to « Tendrara » is the next major step for Sound Energy, with an estimated investment of $300 to $400 million in collaboration with Managem.

Additionally, the company is exploring natural hydrogen extraction opportunities in Morocco, particularly white hydrogen found within rock layers, which also contains helium. If discovered, these resources could lead to highly valuable projects.
