A police inspector from the Laâyoune Security Directorate was forced to use his service weapon on Tuesday during an operation to arrest a 36-year-old man in a highly aggressive state. The suspect posed a serious threat to public safety and police officers with bladed weapons.
The police intervened after the suspect caused public disturbance and damaged a taxi window. He resisted violently using two knives, prompting the inspector to fire two warning shots before injuring the suspect in the foot.
The suspect is under medical observation at the hospital while awaiting a judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor to uncover the circumstances of th- incident.
