Turkish club Galatasaray has officially announced the termination of Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech’s contract by mutual agreement in a statement released on Wednesday, January 29.

The club thanked Ziyech for his efforts and contributions to the team and wished him success in his future career.

Ziyech had joined Galatasaray on loan from Chelsea with a purchase option, but recurring injuries and difficulties adapting to the Turkish league’s style of play prevented him from performing as expected.

During the 2023-2024 season, he played only 11 matches and registered a single assist.

Reports suggest that Ziyech is set to continue his professional career in the Qatari league after reaching a preliminary agreement with Al-Duhail, a club looking to strengthen its squad during the winter transfer window.

It is worth noting that Ziyech had recently received several offers from clubs such as Al-Nasr (UAE), Lille (France), and various Gulf and European teams, but he ultimately chose to embark on a new challenge in Qatar.
