Rangers Appoint Issam Charai as Assistant Coach
Scottish club Rangers announced on Wednesday the appointment of Moroccan Issam Charai as the team’s assistant coach.
In an official statement, the club, which includes Moroccan forward Hamza Igamane, stated that « the experienced coach joins Rangers from French side Strasbourg, having previously worked as an assistant coach in the Belgian Pro League ».
Charai previously led Morocco’s U-23 national team to victory in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations for this category.
At 43 years old, he strengthens Philippe Clement’s coaching staff, replacing Andries Ulderink, who left the Scottish club for « personal reasons ».
Rangers currently sit in second place in the Scottish Premiership and are preparing to face Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday in the UEFA Europa League.
The team aims to secure a positive result to break into the top eight in the group stage standings, which would guarantee direct qualification to the Round of 16.
