Arrest of Politician Mohamed Ali Douas in Ceuta

Spanish authorities have arrested the Moroccan-Spanish politician Mohamed Ali Douas in Ceuta last week as part of a large security operation targeting a network suspected of drug trafficking.

According to local media reports, the Spanish Civil Guard conducted raids on Douas’ homes in search of evidence. Boats, vehicles, and other assets linked to the case were also inspected.

In addition to Mohamed Ali Douas, two prison guards and several other individuals suspected of being linked to a criminal network involved in drug trafficking and corruption were also arrested.

These arrests follow an extensive investigation lasting several months, led by the Spanish National Court, which specializes in major crimes. Further arrests may take place in the coming days.

Mohamed Ali Douas has been a member of the Ceuta Parliament since 2023, succeeding Abdelkader Abdessalam. His party, led by Fatima Hamed, won three seats in the last municipal elections.
