German coach Hansi Flick, at the helm of FC Barcelona, sent a message of optimism to the club’s fans following their emphatic 5-0 victory over Valencia in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals, stating that the team is moving in the right direction.
Barcelona’s goals at Mestalla came from a brilliant Ferran Torres hat-trick, along with strikes from Fermín López and Lamine Yamal, showcasing the Catalans’ strong form and determination to compete for the title.
In comments relayed by Marca, Flick expressed his satisfaction with his players’ performance:
« I’m happy because we were focused from the start of the match. I’m especially pleased for Ferran, who scored a hat-trick—that’s fantastic. »
The German coach also emphasized the importance of collective effort:
« I’ve said before that it’s crucial for everyone to give their best. Ferran played an outstanding match as a striker. This victory was very important for us, and I’m happy with how we played—creating chances and scoring early. »
Speaking about Barcelona’s attacking approach, Flick added:
« Scoring 109 goals in 35 matches? That’s the style we want to play. The team is always hungry for more goals. »
He concluded by stressing that the team still has room for improvement, highlighting his ambition to continuously refine their performances.
Barcelona now awaits their opponent for the semi-finals, with the draw set to take place on February 12. Possible matchups include Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, or Real Sociedad.
