Suspect Arrested for Drug Trafficking in Casablanca

The judicial police of the Sidi Bernoussi district in Casablanca arrested a suspect on the morning of Wednesday, February 12, for alleged involvement in drug possession and trafficking of psychotropic substances.

The police intervention was triggered following a report of a utility vehicle overturning on the internal highway of Casablanca. Initial investigations and a vehicle search revealed a significant drug shipment, consisting of 1,000 ecstasy pills, 14 kg of cannabis resin (chira), 432 kg of kif, and 200 kg of smuggled tobacco.

Continuing their field investigation, law enforcement quickly identified and apprehended the driver of the vehicle near the accident site. A search of his belongings uncovered 59 psychotropic pills, 4 grams of cocaine, and a quantity of cannabis resin.

The suspect has been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine all circumstances and details of the case. Investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other accomplices involved in these criminal activities.
