During the Executive Board meeting of the Arab Rugby Union held yesterday, Thursday, on the sidelines of the 10th Arab Rugby Sevens Championship in Alexandria, Egypt, Adnan Azizi was appointed as the Chairman of the Technical Committee. The championship will run until February 15.
According to a statement from the Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation, this appointment reflects the trust placed in Adnan Azizi to contribute to the development and growth of rugby within the Arab Union.
Additionally, four Moroccan officials have been selected to join different committees within the Union:
- Hassan Tirrari as a member of the Refereeing Committee,
- Rachid Mousata in the Marketing Committee,
- Amal Birbas in the Medical Committee,
- Leila Boudhain in the Gender Balance Committee.
Adnan Azizi, who is also the Vice-President of the Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation, is a key figure in Moroccan rugby. He has played a significant role in restoring the Moroccan national rugby XV team to its top-tier African group and securing qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup in Uganda.
The meeting, chaired by Emirati Qais Abdullah Al-Dhaheri, was attended by Hicham Oubja, President of the Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation and a member of the Arab Union’s Executive Board. The discussions covered several strategic topics, including the Union’s management, rugby development programs in the Arab world, and the approval of upcoming Arab championship dates.
