Bank Al-Maghrib reported that participatory financing for housing, particularly in the form of « Murabaha real estate », continued to grow, reaching 24.9 billion dirhams by the end of 2024, compared to 21.6 billion dirhams a year earlier.
According to the latest « loans and bank deposits » dashboard from the central bank, this type of financing recorded a 15.1% increase compared to the end of 2023.
Meanwhile, household loans grew by 1.7% year-on-year, mainly reflecting a 1.7% rise in mortgage loans and a 1.4% increase in consumer loans.
The Bank Al-Maghrib business survey revealed that 75% of industrial players considered access to bank financing « normal » in the fourth quarter of 2024, while 16% found it « difficult ».
Moreover, 87% of companies reported stable borrowing costs, while 10% observed a decline.
Finally, in the fourth quarter of 2024, interest rates on new loans decreased by 7 basis points, reaching 5.26%, with rates of 5.08% for large companies and 5.70% for very small, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
