Drug Bust and Arrest of Two Suspects in Laâyoune

The judicial police in Laâyoune, in collaboration with the General Directorate for National Territory Surveillance, arrested two individuals, aged 21 and 33, on the night of Saturday, February 15. They are suspected of involvement in drug possession and trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances.

According to a security source, the suspects were apprehended in a taxi during a police operation in the « Foum El Oued » area near Laâyoune. A search led to the discovery of 1,886 « Rivotril » tablets and several doses of cocaine. Further searches at their residences in Laâyoune resulted in the seizure of 2.5 kg of cannabis resin.

The suspects have been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor to uncover any potential criminal networks and determine the full extent of their offenses.
