Seizure of 64,080 Drug Tablets at Tangier Port: Three Suspects Arrested

National security officers at Tangier City Port successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 64,080 drug tablets late on Sunday, February 16. Three individuals, aged between 22 and 54, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in an international drug trafficking network.

The suspects, a couple and their son, were apprehended upon their arrival on a ferry from a European port. A search of their utility vehicle led to the discovery of 50,880 Rivotril tablets and 13,200 Tranxene tablets.

The detainees have been placed under judicial investigation by the Tangier judicial police, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, to uncover all circumstances surrounding this case and identify potential links to other criminal activities.

This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the General Directorate of National Security to combat international drug trafficking networks.
